The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is set to host an exhilarating event that celebrates the rich tapestry of Black culture. On January 26th, from 2 PM to 6 PM, Esplanade Park will come alive with the fourth annual Rhythm by the River festival. This vibrant celebration brings together music, art, and community engagement, all free of charge.

Experience the Power of Cultural Expression and Social Change

A Platform for Talented Voices

This remarkable festival, sponsored by Baptist Health and JM Family Enterprises, Inc., along with support from TD Charitable Foundation, aims to highlight the exceptional talents within the local community. The event serves as a cornerstone of the Broward Center’s Arts for Action: Black Voices initiative, which leverages the arts to foster discussions on social justice and racial equity.The festival's lineup boasts a diverse array of performers, each bringing their unique flavor to the stage. The Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, renowned nationally, will captivate audiences with their soulful melodies. La Vie, an inspirational soul singer deeply rooted in her Haitian heritage, will transport listeners with her powerful voice. The Jamaican Roots Reggae trio, The Fantells, promises to deliver an authentic reggae experience, while Kevin Lyttle, the Vincentian Soca singer famous for his Billboard hit “Turn Me On,” will close the event with electrifying energy.

Cultural Workshops and Interactive Experiences

Beyond the musical performances, festival-goers can immerse themselves in enriching workshops held at the Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom. Michael Gil’s Moving Music Museum offers a dynamic exploration of cultural art forms, while Anita MacBeth leads an engaging African Dance session. These workshops are designed not only to entertain but also to educate participants about the profound history and significance of various cultural expressions.The Baptist Health Activity Zone adds another layer of excitement with its range of activities. Families can enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, and contribute to a community mural. Interactive games suitable for all ages ensure there’s something for everyone. Attendees can also savor delectable offerings from food vendors like J&J Soul Food, Tropical Soul Food, Reggae Beets, and Sweet Sensations by Charlene. Exploring booths set up by community partners around the park provides further opportunities to connect and learn.

Rodney Baltimore of Hot 105 and K Foxx of 99 JAMZ will guide attendees through the festivities, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.
